Live Life Like Nobody Is Watching

In a culture that suggests we should share every moment of our lives — on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or elsewhere– how do you live an authentic life?

Do you know what I mean?

How do you live a life that is true to who you are, and what you are really about — without trying to come across as someone who’s too cool, super hip, trendy and fashionable, or as if you’ve got life all figured out.

The temptation — whether online or in real life — is to portray to others (and by others I mean the people we think are watching us — like, all the time) that we are living large. Living the high life. Living life without any struggle and precisely according to our grand master plan.

And we’re tempted to do this for a wide-variety of reasons…

Insecurity

We want to be liked

We want to be liked by a certain crowd

We want to be someone other than who we are — or give the appearance of such

We struggle to like who we are

We struggle to know (or understand) who we are — and what we have to offer

But what if we could step back from the perceived spotlight of our own life — and live like nobody was watching.

What would your life look like — if you lived it like no one was watching? Like no one would ever know what you were up to, what your were eating or wearing, or what you were making a priority in your life?

How would you live differently?

How would your life more truthfully reflect who God has made you to be — and therefore bring Him honor?

And would you like yourself any more than you currently do?

If so, why not make the choice today — to live life like nobody is watching.

And as you do that — as we do that — imagine the kind of life (worth watching) we might actually live …
